What is the Zeno Tec system?
The Zeno Tec system is the product of the joint effort of Wiland and I-Mes (manufactures of industrial numeric controlled miller machines), Xawex (manufacturer of high quality dental zirconia ) and 3shape (software development and management of virtual molding).
This group of companies makes the Zeno Tec system easily available to the dental community. The CAD-CAM Tecnology uses an optical laser scanner and software for structure molding to transfer the draft to a miller machine, which works on 4 axis. This allows optimal precision in the molding of structures (Zirconia, resin for temporaries, plastics for models, plastic PMMA, alumina, titanium and ceramics). Zeno Tec system is unique in producing structures of up to 14 consecutive elements. Zeno Tec system is a true alternative to Ceramic-metal.
Material physical characteristics
Zirconium is the chemical element with atomic number 40 and with the symbol ZR. It is a white radio-opaque metal, it is hard, and it looks similar to Titanium.
It is extracted from zircon and it is very resistant to corrosion. Its specific gravity is 6.06 g/cm3.
This metal was first isolated by Berzelius in 1824. It was obtained by heating a mixture of potassium and zirconium fluoride in an iron vessel. A pure form of Zirconium was first obtained in 1914.
Crowns and bridges made with Zirconium Oxide (zirconia) bind chemically to ceramic. Their CDT is 10*10-6/k (25-500°C). The molded structures are synthesized at 1300°C. Their spherical micro-structure gives them great stability allowing layered baking (900o C). Crowns and bridges made with Zirconium Oxide are resistant to breaking (7 MPa*m 1/2). They can be colored using permeable agents (metal oxides) according to chroma and tooth value. Liners can also be used to reduce transparency according to the color of the stump to be concealed.
The permeable structures can be treated with liners or ceramified directly.
